Be Story Free (2011) is a 38 minute video work created for a theater production performed at the Rearhouse in New York City. I filmed four dancers, including myself, performing with props in the empty living room where the play was staged. I played portions of the footage back on a camcorder screen and re-recorded them, creating a deliberately lo-fi layering of original and re-videotaped images.
The videos were displayed as part of the theatrical production but also function as stand-alone works. Written text is meant to be read by the viewer in conversation with the recorded voice of Steve Burns (of Blues Clues).
